What is a fanlisting?
"A fanlisting is a web clique that lists fans of a particular subject. Unlike most web cliques, a person does not need a web site in order to join. Fans from around the world submit their information to their approved fanlisting and they are then listed to show their love for the subject." - TheAnimeFanlistings
About this layout
One more time... was inspired by the Devilman doujinshi comic "Purgatory" by CLAMP during their early days. The short comic details Ryo's dreams of love, longing and self-imposed suffering following the events of the Devilman manga. At the end of the short comic, the angels of heaven ask God to please grant their brother's wish to return to the beginning "one more time".
CLAMP's work has always been very influential to me, both in story and in visuals. To see my favourite character, who influenced the creation of so many of my favourite manga, depicted by my favourite artists is something I can't really describe. I think this little comic is very beautiful. One day I hope to own my own copy of it.
Why Ryo Asuka?
I first discovered Devilman when Devilman Crybaby came out in 2018, after previously being familiar with it due to having watched a small amount of Cutie Honey works. The characters of Ryo and Satan grew on me instantly. Ryo's horror and confusion at not understanding who he is. His grip on reality slowly fading into nothing as he wanders aimlessly towards the truth. The horror of his self discovery. The love he was unable to suppress for Akira but also unable to act on. The fate worse than death of being doomed to love and loose over and over for all of eternity. These ideas all together set my heart ablaze.
Ryo is an impossible tragedy. I think that is what draws me to him. He's the ultimate alien while also being more human than all of humanity. He is what he is. That's it!
